The Ghost Hunter

Shelley had been an amateur ghost hunter for years.

More than anything else, she really did want to go professional.

But Shelley hadn’t yet actually seen a ghost, which was a non-negotiable when applying to becoming a fully qualified ghost hunter.

It didn’t mean she couldn’t tell people she was a ghost hunter, though.

She was even allowed to take groups on ghost hunts.

Inevitably they would ask her, “Are we going to see any ghosts?” and she’d have to answer, quite honestly, that she wasn’t sure.

But, as she’d reassure her groups, the thrill was in the hunt!

Or in her experience it was, which was why she’d done it for so long, even ghostless.

What Shelley didn’t know is that there were always ghosts with her.

The ghosts were very fond of Shelley, her respect and her dedication; not endlessly demanding to “reveal yourself” like the bossy and bolshie ghost hunters do.

In fact, the main reason that the ghosts didn’t reveal themselves to her was because they didn’t want to startle Shelley or scare her off.

They liked having her around.

In their eyes she was a true professional.
