Having used a few different editing services – which are not cheap – in no instance did I feel that the editor truly cared about my work. So, I took it upon myself to learn the necessary skills (copy editing, line editing and proofreading) so that I could effectively edit my own writing. (Even then, it is always so important that I find a trusted colleague or friend – or both – who also has the ability to look over my work. To be the best writer, your work must be edited to the highest possible standard.)
